On the evening of 19 June 1988, a banal road accident near the Verona Sud toll booth took the life of a 35-year-old man. A bad episode in the local news, except that the dead man is a well-known former terrorist named Marco Donat-Cattin. Son of a leading exponent of the Christian Democrats, Donat-Cattin had been among the founders of Prima Linea, the far-left terrorist fringe that acted as a loose cannon in the second half of the 1970s, shooting and killing without apparent logic as in the case of the magistrate Emilio Alessandrini who investigated the Sindona crash.
