Segrate, 15 March 1972. At the foot of an electric pylon, a farmer, Luigi Stringhetti, finds the burnt corpse of a man. A short distance away, an abandoned car contains a pack of cigarettes cut in half and an identity card registered to a certain Vincenzo Maggioni. However, the document is a fake, obtained through modifications of a stolen card. The dead man, as the investigators of the Political Office of the Milan Police Headquarters ascertain, is the publisher Giangiacomo Feltrinelli who, having gone into hiding after Piazza Fontana, had chosen armed struggle. We retrace the reckless life of the entrepreneur, from his wealthy childhood with fascist sympathies to his meeting with Trombadori and his conversion to communism, his friendship with Fidel Castro, his editorial success with Pasternak, his research in South America, his ties with Che Guevara. And the legends that arose about a death that left behind the culture of suspicion in Italian society.
