Warden, Free State! Ep 472

The journey from Kestell to Warden was enjoyable, with a planned detour onto a gravel road which led us to the abandoned Afrikaskop Station. Despite a brief ten-minute rain shower typical of Free State weather, we arrived in Warden and we marvelled at its numerous old sandstone buildings, including what we believe to be the biggest sandstone church in the Southern Hemisphere. While exploring this quaint town we found yet another abandoned station. We took a walk through the impressive Warden Lodge, which date back to 1909, before the town was even established.
