Ankara - TSK'nın kadın pilotları helikopterlerle görevden göreve koşuyor

Turkish Armed Forces (TAF) female pilots are flying helicopters from one mission to another. Female pilots Captain Sena Özer (36) and Major Yeşim Bölükbaşı (38), both of whom are assigned to the 4th Army Aviation Regiment Command within the Turkish Armed Forces' Army Aviation Command, are deploying Sikorsky S-70 helicopters in the Turkish Armed Forces' inventory, operating not only in operational operations but also in response to natural disasters such as fires, earthquakes, and floods. These female pilots, Captain Sena Özer and Major Yeşim Bölükbaşı, are based at the 4th Army Aviation Regiment Command in Istanbul, within the Turkish Armed Forces Army Aviation Command. Özer and Bölükbaşı have participated in numerous missions with Sikorsky S-70 helicopters. Pilots participating in these operations also deploy helicopters during natural disasters. Özer and Bölükbaşı play an active role in rescue operations, flying even in challenging terrain and climate conditions. "I'M PROUD TO BE A PART OF AVIATION" Captain Sena Özer, whose father is a retired colonel and whose husband is also a pilot in the Turkish Armed Forces, said she chose the Turkish Military Academy during her university entrance exam. Özer, who explained that she has wanted to be a soldier since childhood because of her father's profession, said, "Both the military and aviation are challenging professions. In fact, you could call them not just professions but a way of life. At the same time, I believe military aviation is a crucial element in a country's defense power. It's where technology, creativity, and courage meet on a common ground. As Ghazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk said, 'Nations that cannot control their skies can never be sure of their future.'" Therefore, I am proud to be a part of military aviation," he said. Özer stated that his only desire after entering the Military Academy was to become a pilot, adding, "I saw female pilots at the school. Our commanders were great role models for me. I'm so happy to have achieved this. I felt an incredible feeling the moment the helicopter left the ground on our first flight. I remember being very excited. I'm currently flying a Sikorsky helicopter. I can say that flying this helicopter gives me great courage and instills self-confidence." Özer stated that March 8th signifies the importance of women's solidarity and labor, and their struggle for equal opportunities. She said, "I believe that in recent years, women have broken taboos in many fields and achieved great success. When we look at the aviation field, the number of women has also increased significantly in recent years. I think that women breaking taboos and achieving success in such a field is a great example of courage, especially for girls. Girls should focus solely on their goals to become the people they want to be. When they lose their motivation and self-confidence, they should look to the achievements of Turkish women throughout our history and draw support from there." "WE PLAY A IMPORTANT ROLE IN THE NATION'S DEFENSE" Major Yeşim Bölükbaşı, noting that she graduated from the Turkish Military Academy in 2008 as an air officer lieutenant, said, "Military aviation means responsibility and honor to me. Being in the air and serving for homeland security adds a special depth to my work. Military aviation isn't just a lifestyle; it's a lifestyle that requires responsibility, a great responsibility. It requires being prepared both mentally and physically. It requires prioritizing discipline and courage. At the same time, being a woman in this field reminds us once again that all women can be talented and courageous in any field they choose. We serve alongside all our comrades-in-arms, both in the air and on the ground, and we play a significant role in the defense of our country. This is a source of great pride." A SOURCE OF PRIDE Bölükbaşı stated that he was inspired by Sabiha Gökçen, the adopted daughter of Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, saying, "For this reason, especially since high school, I wanted to be both a soldier and a pilot. This is how I developed my passion for military aviation. My first flight experience was in a single-engine training aircraft. After takeoff, when my instructor commander handed me the controls, I felt as if I owned the aircraft, as if its controls were my limbs, as if I could do whatever I wanted in the air. It was a very exciting moment, and I still feel that excitement in every flight. I am currently an S-70 Sikorsky helicopter pilot, and flying such a large and powerful helicopter, fulfilling every mission under every suitable condition, is a tremendous...
