Pricebook Configuration

Pricebooks are the layer in Karana CPQ that controls what products are available on a deal and at what price — and this video covers the full depth of what's configurable. Pricebooks can be segmented by market, customer type, ICP, or any other criteria that shapes your pricing strategy. Products not included in a price book can be hidden entirely, shown as requiring manual price entry, or configured to fall back to the product catalog price. Within a price book, each SKU supports a wide range of pricing models: fixed price, percentage off list, tiered pricing (all units at the tier price), graduated pricing (different rates per quantity band), recurring pricing (with optional renewal document generation), metered pricing (included units + overage rate + price floor), committed plus overage, ramp pricing (different rates per period), time and materials (rate-code billing), and cost plus (override cost and apply a margin). Pricing policy controls include: automatic discount application, per-SKU maximum discount with warning and block thresholds, custom notes to sales reps, minimum and maximum quantities, and approval triggers based on override values. Configurable parameters marked as "effects pricing" in the product setup are available here for value-based adjustments — flat amounts or percentages per option — including support for table-based parameters with per-row pricing logic. Multi-currency support is handled through currency overlays: rather than duplicating an entire price book for each currency, you add an overlay to specify prices in the target currency. The system automatically selects the correct currency based on the currency set on the deal. Price books are versioned — every change is saved, and previous configurations can be restored via command-line tools. Key highlights: • Segment pricing by market, customer type, or any criteria • On-miss behavior: fallback to product price, require manual entry, hide, or error • Pricing models: fixed, off-list, tiered, graduated, recurring, metered, committed + overage, ramp, T&M, cost plus • Per-SKU pricing policy: discounts, approval triggers, quantity limits, rep notes • Pricing parameters: flat or percentage adjustments per option, including table-based row-level logic • Currency overlays: add per-currency pricing without duplicating price book logic • Automatic currency matching based on deal currency • Price books are versioned with rollback capability
