Algodonales 2025, Magic Air with Telemetry (2.7 K)

Magic air paragliding in Algodonales, Spain In this second flight of the first day flying in Algodonales, I enjoy the beautiful evening restitution — also known as magic air. As the day cools, the strong daytime thermals fade, and the air becomes smooth and buoyant. The warm air stored in the valleys slowly releases, creating gentle, widespread lift that keeps gliders floating effortlessly. It’s one of the most relaxing and rewarding times to fly — calm conditions, soft climbs, and long, peaceful glides into sunset. 🔔 Don't forget to like the video (if you really liked it), subscribe and leave a comment :) How it works: Evening restitution happens when the warm air trapped near the ground mixes with the cooling upper layers, creating a uniform temperature gradient and smooth rising air. The turbulence of the day disappears, leaving widespread lift instead of narrow thermals. How to fly it: To enjoy restitution flights, launch late in the afternoon and stay relatively near the ridges or valley faces that retain warmth. Well, at least at the beginning, once you know the area it is possible to venture many km away from the ridge. Keep your turns gentle, follow the soft lift lines, and relax — it’s not about altitude gain or huge XC, but savoring the smooth, magic glide as the day ends. This being said, one can eventually reach close to the "Twin Peaks" and come back to close a decent FAI triangle. There was at least a 20 km FAI triangle done that evening, same take-off time as mine. Telemetry: This is my first attempt to add telemetry to my videos and a feed-back would be highly appreciated. Are the widgets useful, would you like to see other information? Are the gauges too big/too small, or would you like to see the same information displayed in another way? Equipment: Ozone Rush 6 (getting a bit old), SupAir DeLight 3, Flymaster Nav SD 00:00 Intro 00:25 Take off (from Levante) and heading North along the ridge, hoping to find some lift there. I was waiting quite a lot to see that the air is finally moving, the take-off was at 1740 (on October 12th). 05:16 Finally finding some lift. A weak beep, but there is hope it will not be a glide to the landing. 11:50 After "scratching" the valley for 6 minutes and gaining 100 m I dare to venture across the gully on the north. The draw flattens out a bit and I see no danger in getting stuck there. As soon as I go there I finally find a good lift that raise my spirits. It is a thermal, rather than the evening restitution, more experienced pilots can confirm or negate that. 13:13 With vertical speed reaching up to 2.9 m/s it only took me 1 minute to gain another 100 m and join the other pilots 15:00 Above the ridge and feeling good 29:09 A few paraglides and a few vultures thermalling together, did you notice that? No? That's OK, we'll see them again later. The vultures 🦅...and the pilots 37:50 Joining other pilots and some vultures 🦅 in a thermal! 40:21 What if I move away from the hill, as far as it lasts, while still keeping the possibility to come back to it? 48:40 Turning back towards Lijar...way too early, I would say now, in retrospect 55:20 The village of Algodonales, seen from above. I turn back from here, enjoying more of the evening restitution 01:05:00 Many pilots are enjoying the magic air far away from the hill, over the fields. Let's join them. #paragliding #algodonales #aviation #freefly #adventure #magicair #gopro #telemetry #telemetryoverlay #ozone #ozoneparagliders #rushsix
