Grand Central Slide & Old Slide on Mount Marcy | Adirondacks NY

Parked at Elk Lake Around 3:30 Am and started hiking by 4. We had a 9 mile trek into Panther Gorge to start our Bushwhack up Marcy Brook which would take us close to Grand Central Slide. With a GPS plot we bushwhacked for only a couple minutes before landing in a completely dried up drainage. This took us to a massive 150 foot tall overhanging waterfall. In order to access the Grand Central Slide we had to do some pretty steep climbing and scrambling to lookers left of the waterfall. It was super sketchy. Once climbing we got onto the slide and proceeded to follow a bedrock drainage up the first third. Then it was very overgrown for the second third and the top half was a newer rubble field slide. Once topped out we had a .34 bushwhack across the side of Mount Marcy to drop into Marcys Old Slide for the descent Total for the day was 22 Miles and 5400 feet of climbing.
