Legendary Bartender Harry Yee is celebrating his 104th birthday today! Harry is best know for creating the famous Blue Hawaii Cocktail amongst many others. Every year on Sept 26th we like to celebrate here on Bar Talk and Cocktails and make one of his famous libations. This year we look at his Tapa Punch. The very first cocktail to use cocktail umbrella. Oh yeah, I should mention it was Harry that started that whole trend of using a cocktail umbrella in drinks. Thought be a lost recipe, we have Beachbum Barry to thank for uncovering it. The Tapa Punch is a strong one so if drinking one, maybe plan ahead and make sure you don't have much to do for the rest of the day. There's a lot happening this week. We are also celebrating our 200th cocktail video. We've done many more than 200 videos on the channel, but in our main "Untold Story" series, we hit number 200 with the Tapa Punch! Oh and we talk a lot about Umbrellas. COCKTAIL LANTERNS Also the good folks Anna & Greg from The KonTigo Tiki Bar gifted me a pack of Hanging Cocktail Lanterns. These things are awesome and add a different twist on the Cocktail Umbrella. These hanging lanterns were popular back in the 1950s and 60s, and then sometime in the 70s, well they kinda disappeared.
