Over-Respecting or Fearing Leaders is NOT Appropriate: They are Not Gods! 🚫👑🦅 Respecting authority is a beautiful pillar of Bafumbira culture. But there is a very fine line between showing healthy respect and living in absolute fear of the people we elected to serve us. Too often in our community, we treat leaders like untouchable gods instead of public servants. Think about it: how many times have you traveled 10 kilometers or more to a leader's office, without the ability to call ahead for an appointment, only to find an empty chair? How many times has a leader walked right past you while you've been waiting for hours, leaving you guessing if they've gone for lunch or left for the day, without offering a single word of explanation? We sit in silence, afraid to ask questions, afraid to demand better, and afraid to approach their desks. In today’s video, we are breaking this cycle. It is time for the Bafumbira to be brave, believe in their own citizenship, and remember a foundational truth: leaders are servants, not rulers.
