Le campane di Santa Teresa del Bambino Gesù a Legnano (MI)

The church of the Legnano convent houses three very interesting bells, donated to the rector to mark the 25th anniversary of his ordination to the priesthood. These Italian bells are rung using ropes on the Solemnity of Saints Peter and Paul, the day on which I was invited as an expert to document them, as they are very rare bells. The festive occasion allowed us to ring the bells using the traditional ‘concerto’ method. If you love history and art, I warmly invite you to subscribe to the channel. The Carmelite Order arrived in Legnano in the summer of 1929, after a very wealthy benefactor had commissioned the construction of a chapel dedicated to Thérèse of Lisieux, who had been canonised by Pope Pius XI in 1925. The rapid expansion of the neighbourhood led the head of the friars to commission a new, large church, designed by a prominent architect from Milan. The Rationalist building was completed in 14 months and consecrated on 14 September 1933 by Cardinal Schuster. The building was constructed in the typical Lombard brick architectural style. On 8 December 1964, the new archbishop established the church as the neighbourhood’s parish, entrusting it to the friars who had been caring for the city’s poor. The friars were joined by a convent of nuns, who founded a large nursery school for children in 1968. In the following decades, the sanctuary underwent a number of enhancements, foremost among which was the new high altar in polychrome marble. In 1984, a chapel dedicated to the Infant Jesus – venerated by the sea at the sanctuary of Arenzano – was erected within the parish grounds. The parish is a fine example of great charity, which was made public in 2003 with the opening of a soup kitchen for the poor. The sanctuary provides a safe haven, particularly for the sacrament of confession. e'' flat - f'' - g'' The church has a Greek cross plan, dominated by a large 22-metre dome, flanked by five smaller domes. The square-based bell tower was built two metres lower than the central dome. The convenient staircase leads to one of the most interesting bell towers in the province. The three bells were cast by Francesco Oltolina in 1845, twenty years before the opening of the historic foundry in Seregno. #foryou #italy #2026 #life #bells #church #vlogs #bell #landscape #travel #friends #storm #trip #views #catholic #cinematic
