🦅 Glacier Gardens Bald Eagles | Juneau, Alaska Mama Liberty is a beloved 27-year-old wild bald eagle who has nested at Glacier Gardens Rainforest Adventures in Juneau, Alaska, since 2002. For more than two decades, she has returned faithfully to this territory, becoming one of the most recognized bald eagles on any live nest cam. For many years, Liberty shared the nest with her longtime mate, Papa Freedom. Following Papa Freedom's passing in 2024, Liberty has formed a new pair bond, this season, and is now continuing her remarkable legacy with a new resident male. These could be the first eaglets raised at Glacier Gardens since Hope hatched and successfully fledged in 2023. The past two nesting seasons brought heartbreak and uncertainty: 🦅 2024: Papa Freedom was found deceased beneath his favorite roost tree, ending any chance of a nesting season. 🦅 2025: Liberty attracted a new mate, but the pair's nesting efforts were unsuccessful as the male disappeared and the unattended eggs were lost to ravens.. . Now, hope returns to Glacier Gardens. The 2026 nesting season brought two eggs, laid on April 25 and April 29, 2026. 🥚 PIP WATCH HAS OFFICIALLY BEGUN! While many of the live cam bald eagle nests across North America have already completed their season, or will soon. Glacier Gardens remains one of the final active bald eagle nests on live cam. With hatch dates approaching, Liberty and her new mate continue carefully incubating their eggs as viewers around the world wait for the first signs of a pip. In this video, we watch a recent nest exchange as the pair trade incubation duties and remain vigilant around the nest.
