Shotgun Slade (May 13, 1960)

A western TV series with a twist: instead of a gunslinger or a sheriff/marshal, the main character was a private detective. The program ran in syndication from 1959-61 for a total of 78 episodes. The pilot for the series was seen as an episode of "Schlitz Playhouse of Stars" on CBS earlier in 1959. In "Crossed Guns", a gunslinger Slade had sent to prison five years previous is now a free man. Having lost a hand to Slade's gunfire, the ex-convict plans a showdown using a hired gun to take his place and kill Slade. Posted for educational and historical purposes only.
