WATER MATTERS - Community's Response to Water Crisis

While the documentary film captures the challenges caused by water scarcity, more importantly, it presents the community’s response to the water crisis at Phekerkriema village under Kohima district Nagaland. It highlights the contribution of the whole community in the efforts and endeavours from home-makers, farmers and village authorities to tackle the problem of water. Despite the genuine attempts, in the face of the crisis, the major brunt is borne by the womenfolk who shoulders multiple responsibilities of supporting their homes, nurturing young infants and children, livestock rearing and farming which further escalates their struggles leading to limited means of livelihood opportunities, impacting children’s education and health. However, the collective responses portray hope and feasible systems with traditional sustainable methods coupled with the right support and interventions from the concerned government departments to solve the problem.
