US Secretary of State Marco Rubio is promoting an international strategy to coordinate actions against organizations that the Trump administration identifies as radical far-left groups. The initiative seeks to bring together representatives from more than 60 countries to strengthen security cooperation mechanisms and open a debate on the criminal and financial classification of these movements. During an analysis of the issue, Felipe López Veneroni, a professor and researcher at the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM), warned that this discourse is reminiscent of episodes like McCarthyism in the 1950s and is partly a response to the Trump administration's political decline in the lead-up to the midterm elections.
