Dance Along with Me to Nail your Grade 4 Centre Practice Exercise

But first... do you fancy trying a bonus ballet class? Pop along to the link below to try one of our recorded on line classes... right now if you like: https://subscribepage.io/d2yBcv So... have you been struggling to get the RAD (Royal Academy of Dance) Grade 4 centre practice under your belt? It is a tricky one, but at the same time, once you've nailed it, great fun to perform. First off... I recommend you get your arms sorted. In ballet the arms really do lead the movement, however we often leave them until after we've worked out the legs and feet. This means that the port de bras in any exercise becomes a bit of an afterthought, which is not ideal, as they help create the impetus for turns and leaps, as well as helping us balance in adage and just create the overall finesse of a movement. So nail the arms... literally, get in front of the mirror and in the releve section of this exercise they go from 2nd through bras bas to first, one arm opens to third, closes back to 1st, then both open to 2nd again. Think in your head "1st, 3rd, 1st, 2nd" Once you have ingrained this in your body, you can work on the legs, which are relevé in 5th, releve devant, releve passé derierre (passing to the back) and stretch. Get them nailed then put the two together. Finally you can add the tendu section, the easiest part of the exercise, although still remember why we do tendus and use that pressure through the floor with every tendu to improve your ballet footwork And voilá! There you have it... the Centre Practice Exercise from RAD Grade 4. Do let me know below how you get on. Share this with your friends and come back for more. Let me know if there's a specific exercise or grade you'd like me to go over for you. Please note that I do not own the music used in this video, it is there purely for educational purposes only, in order to help dancers learn the musicality of this work.
