Dead Or Alive 1 Ultimate Xbox version on Xbox Series X - Where it all started

Before Dead or Alive 2 raised the bar, this is where it all started. In this video I revisit Dead or Alive 1 Ultimate (Xbox version) on Xbox Series X to see how the very first entry holds up today. Originally released on the Sega Saturn, this was Team Ninja’s first step into fast, fluid 3D fighting — and you can already feel the foundation of what would later become one of the most stylish fighting franchises ever made. Gameplay-wise, it’s surprisingly solid. The counter system is already there. The speed feels good. And while I couldn’t beat the game with every character, I definitely performed best with Kasumi. Now… let’s address the elephant in the room. The physics. Yes — the animations are… enthusiastic. Extremely enthusiastic. It’s over the top, exaggerated, and honestly hilarious at times. You can tell this was a different era of game design. But as a first entry? It’s still a fun and important piece of fighting game history. This is the beginning of the journey — and in the next videos, we’ll move forward to see how the series evolved.
