Devon & Cornwall’s Stunning Coastal Mainline Railway In this video I take a ride on one of England's last iconic InterCity 125 / High-Speed Trains (HST) along one of the most scenic train rides in the UK as I travel along the Devon coast from Exeter and through Cornwall to the westernmost station in England (and end of the line), Penzance. Home to dramatic cliffs, sea views and the famous Dawlish sea wall, this journey captures the full experience of riding Britain's famous coastal railway - from the long stretches of track that run right beside rivers and the sea (through Dawlish and Teignmouth), Brunel's magnificent Royal Albert Bridge across the River Tamar to some of the most beautiful countryside in south west England.....well I think so anyway! Joking aside, some stunning coastal scenery in this video to be enjoyed…make sure you stick around to 4mins in for this😀 This trip is extra special because I’m riding on my favourite train of all time — the legendary InterCity 125 / High Speed Train (HST). This iconic train has been running across Britain for 50 years and still holds the title of fastest diesel-powered train in the world (148 mph). I’ve made this journey specifically to ride the HST while I still can. These are the last few remaining HSTs still in passenger service in England, and the operator Great Western Railway (GWR) will be withdrawing them from service in early December 2025.
