TransPennine Express Nova 2 Class 397 | Manchester to Glasgow Train Review I test out a TransPennine Express Nova 2 Class 397 electric multiple unit which ply their trade on TPE's Anglo-Scots route from Manchester, capital of north-west England, along the most scenic part of the West Coast Mainline through Cumbria and the Scottish borders to Glasgow in Scotland. These 125mph Spanish-built trains are based on CAF's Civity platform and were introduced into service from late 2019. Why is this Britain's lesser known high-speed train? Well there are only 12 of them in TPE's fleet making them a rare move away from the Hitachi IET trains which unfortunately now dominate the UK’s high-speed train fleet..... Along the way, you’ll get to see some of the best scenery that north-west England and southern Scotland has to offer as we pass through Manchester's post-industrial landscape, the beautiful Lakeland fells in Cumbria, and the picturesque Scottish Borders.
