Learning English Podcast Alzheimer's brain changes, low birthrate in Japan, therapy for children
Dan Novak and Ashley Thompson host today's Learning English show. First: Medical researchers have gotten a close look at brain changes that happen in people who later get Alzheimer's disease. The study in China looked at 20 years of data on more than 1200 people, about half of whom developed Alzheimer's. Caty Weaver has the story. Next: Japan has recorded its lowest number of births since 1899 and lowest marriage rate in 90 years. Mario Ritter reports on the numbers and the concerns they raise for Japan’s economy and national security. Then: Mental health treatments are become more available for young people and students are increasingly open to discussing mental health problems. But now, schools are now facing difficulties in getting parents to agree to student counseling services. Anna Matteo explores the issue on the LE Education Report. After that, Anna joins Dan in the studio where she explains the report's use of the word "roadblock." Finally: Time for LE's Lesson of the Day. Dustin Reynolds bases his instruction on a report about a recent moon landing. Learn all about the word "achievement" as well as some history on moon landings and prospects for more in the future. Dan and Ashley close the show. Read along on our website: Large Study Details Years of Brain Changes in Alzheimer’s Patients https://learningenglish.voanews.com/a...
