Nature itself is the master of this land. Alaskans understand the natural cycle as part of this wondrous natural landscape, and weave a story of coexistence with other wildlife. The glaciers are the beginning. The wonders of glaciers, created over eons, can be experienced in Seward. Located approximately 200 kilometers south of Anchorage, Alaska's largest city, Seward has been a shipping hub since the early days of the colonization of the country, serving as a free-floating port. Cross the mystical, glacially colored seas to see the Aialik Glacier. A surprising guest awaits you there! Homer, nicknamed "The End of the Road," is a town in southwestern Alaska. It's also known as a fishing paradise, thanks to the Homer Spit, which stretches 7.5 kilometers into Kechemak Bay. A sand spit is a long sandy landform stretching from land to sea. This unique topography allows anyone to fish in Homer without a boat. Simply cast a line and prepare to wrestle with salmon over a meter long. It's not just humans who seek salmon. Dead salmon that have returned to the sea after spawning are also sought after: the world's largest flatfish, the halibut! Halibut, meaning "holiday delicacy," is a massive fish, weighing up to 230 kilograms and exceeding 200 centimeters in length. Fishermen lower their heavy weights to depths of 14 meters and wait for a bite. The rod flexes! A seasoned fisherman swiftly reels in. Gradually gaining momentum... Will they finally catch it? For Alaskans, salmon fishing is a daily routine and a part of their culture. They chase the salmon as they swim upstream, catching king salmon in the ocean and sockeye and coho salmon in the rivers. The sight of fishermen holding large nets and guarding the salmon's path as they swim is a spectacular sight. Salmon is a vital food source for surviving the harsh winters, and there are various methods for preserving it.
