We explore how the narrative language of the Masnavi complements the metaphysical depth of Ibn Arabi; how the emphasis on ethics and deeds in Ghazali's Ihya points to the same place as the short but striking wisdom of Ibn Ataullah al-Iskandari. We strive to see how these texts, written in different periods and geographies, share a common vision centered on the human soul, heart, and inclination. As the conversation progresses, we explore how these texts, through commentaries on the Masnavi, Masnavihanes (Sufi lodges), and Mevlevihanes (Sufi centers), have formed a tradition of reading and living by these texts. We also discuss how Sufism goes beyond textual limitations and transforms into a way of life.
