In this divine discourse, in 1-30 Slokas, Siddhaguru explains the sacred glory of Pratihareeshwara Shiva Linga, the 20th Shiva Linga of Mahakalavana, as revealed by Lord Shiva/Rudra to Goddess Parvati. Lord Shiva tells Parvati that this sacred Linga is known as Pratihareeshwara, and that by the mere darshan of this Shiva Linga, a devotee becomes blessed with wealth and prosperity. The word Pratihara means a divine gatekeeper, and this Linga is connected with the story of Nandeeshwara, the great guardian and devotee of Lord Shiva. In the sacred narration, after Sati Devi gave up her body due to the insult of Lord Rudra at Daksha’s yajna, she was later born again as Parvati, the daughter of Himavan. Lord Shiva explains to Parvati the truth of the soul — that the jeeva does not get destroyed, but only changes forms until liberation. Later, when Lord Shiva and Parvati were in divine tantric union, the Devas came to Shiva’s presence seeking help. Nandeeshwara was guarding the entrance and did not allow anyone to disturb Lord Shiva. Agni Deva then took the form of a swan and secretly entered to inform Lord Shiva. Because Nandeeshwara could not stop this, Lord Shiva cursed him to go to Bhuloka. Due to the curse, Nandeeshwara fell to earth and suffered deeply in separation from Shiva. The Lokapalas then guided him to Mahakalavana, where Nandeeshwara worshipped the sacred Shiva Linga with great devotion. Pleased by his worship, Lord Shiva granted him release from the curse. From that time, the Linga became famous as Pratihareeshwara Shiva Linga. Lord Shiva tells Parvati that whoever worships Pratihareeshwara Shiva Linga with devotion will receive powerful blessings: removal of curses, fulfilment of desires, protection from displacement and separation, destruction of sins committed across seven births, and even upliftment of the devotee’s entire lineage toward heaven.
