This time, we set aside two full days to explore the city. After driving 250 kilometers from Burgas, we found hotel parking in the very center of the old town and left the car. Since we had plenty of time before check-in, we decided not to waste it. First, we walked around the old part of the city with its preserved buildings and cobbled streets, had coffee in the Kapana neighborhood, and explored the central pedestrian street. Wanting to get higher, as the city has several hills, we decided to climb one, which we did. From up there, the city seems very large, and the weather was perfect. We descended the hill on a different route, stopped at a shopping center, and then went in search of an Italian restaurant recommended online. Incidentally, this particular establishment was a bit out of the center. It was an atmospheric restaurant with an Italian chef and a pleasant atmosphere. The dishes, while seemingly familiar, had their own unique and pleasant flavor. Late in the evening, we finally made it to the hotel, where a two-room suite in a relaxed style awaited us. After unloading, we continued through the city streets to the nearest park and admired the singing fountains, which are turned on in the evening after dark. Incidentally, our hotel was one of the best in the city, and even the buffet breakfast was prepared with great attention to detail, not to mention the complimentary in-room bar and drinks for guests. After breakfast, the hotel attendant, without waiting for the rest of the English-speaking crowd, offered us a personal tour in Bulgarian. It turned out that Roman baths had been excavated beneath the hotel several years earlier, and we were told how they were created and used in the second century. We then continued the tour in the hotel courtyard and learned about the concept behind the hotel.
