Raising, Rounds and Lowering at Biggleswade

In a small break from the drone footage and at the peak of the third heatwave of 2025, we visit the belfry at Biggleswade, a delightful and light 13cwt 10 in Bedfordshire during a quarter attempt of Grandsire Caters, which sadly came to grief. Whilst not the most adventurous ringing, the focus this time is on the rounds, the bells themselves and superbly kept belfry, bearing resemblance to the likes of Redcliffe and York Minster, just a lot lighter. After a chat with the keyholder after the attempt, it seems that a lot of personal work and care has gone into making both the belfry and ringing room a pleasant, clean, tidy and well kept environment whilst retaining its character. A viewing gallery is easily accessible for visitors, the bells are all equipped with a simulator sensor and, whilst a bit oddstruck in places, go very well for visiting bands.
