Bahnstrecke Olbernhau Neuhausen Erzgebirge Bahnhof stillgelegt Streckenbegehung Obere Flöhatalbahn

#railway The railway line between Pockau-Lengefeld and Neuhausen returned to service in 2005 after renovation, but the section to Olbernhau-Grünthal remained. The rest of the line remained in its current condition until 2001, showing further signs of wear and tear. In 2023, a buffer stop in Grünthal was supposed to seal the closure and create a cycle path. Resistance from Oberneuschönberg and the VMS's decision led to the return to the DB, which nevertheless closed the line. Neuhausen station would then no longer be accessible by rail, but given the current condition of the line, it isn't. In 2019, the last special service was run by Haustein Eisenbahn GmbH, organized by the mayor of Olbernhau. Originally, the line was supposed to be extended to Bienenmühle on the Nossen-Moldava line, providing a connection to Freiberg from there. These plans existed right up until the early days of the GDR Reichsbahn. However, the construction of the Rauschenbach Dam from 1963 to 1965 put an end to this. Due to its location in the Ore Mountains, there are no alternative routes.
