QANTAS A321XLR QF405 Economy Class - Sydney to Melbourne, Aborted Landing, Carcass On Runway (4K)

Join me for an extended scenic trip to Melbourne in the newest (at the time of flying) A321XLR in the Qantas fleet. I was heading to the Melbourne Motor Show, so to ensure the maximum amount of time at the show, I caught the first flight out of Sydney to Melbourne, QF405 at 6:25am (during weekdays there is an earlier flight). After some breakfast in the lounge, it was time for boarding and departure. Overall the flight was uneventful, until on Final Approach into Melbourne, at an altitude of 825ft (251m) the engines roared to life and we started an aggressive climb. 5-6 minutes later the Captain provided an update that ATC instructed the flight do a Go-Around due to a previous aircraft encountering a bird strike. In the Captains words (19:04), an airport safety vehicle was on the runway removing the bird carcass... The positive spin on this, fantastic views of Melbourne City as we made our way back to the airport. Once back on the ground, I jumped on a SkyBus service to Southern Cross Station in the city and a quick walk to the Convention and Exhibition Centre.
