A police operation in São Paulo, extending to São Bernardo do Campo, Santos, Cubatão, São Vicente, and Praia Grande, dismantled a group that defrauded retired workers with false promises of payment of court-ordered debts. The criminals used real data from the victims' cases to impersonate lawyers or prosecutors, employing a money transfer tactic called "smurfing." One elderly man lost R$ 50,000 after believing the information.
