Our European journey continued with a trip from Nuremberg to Cologne. One of Germany's most important cities, an emblem of North Rhine-Westphalia, welcomed us with its imposing cathedral, located right next to the main train station. From the Hauptbahnhof (main train station) onward, our experience in this beautiful and historic city began. Also known as Cologne or Köln, there are three must-see attractions. But beyond those, there's so much to explore, and we tried to fit it all into 24 hours, which ended up being almost a day and a half. First and foremost, Cologne is synonymous with perfume. Eau de cologne, a fragrance used by everyone from Napoleon to Mozart, was born here. And the creator of this fragrance, Johann Maria Farina, remains forever etched in the city's collective memory. The Farina perfumery is still open, and you can buy the very same formula that Napoleon used to perfume himself. But Cologne is also synonymous with Kölsch beer, a style distinct from the rest, with different hops and a different way of serving it. A tip for anyone visiting Cologne and wanting to drink beer is that there's only one way to avoid being served another glass. If the waiter sees you with an empty glass, they'll bring you another. Therefore, to avoid this, any tourist or local should place the coaster on top of the glass, which means they don't want any more. The Love Lock Bridge is another iconic Cologne landmark, as are its colorful houses that date back several centuries. And of course, while in this city, it's impossible to miss the majestic and imposing Cathedral, an icon. The remains of the Three Wise Men rest there. And since we went during the holiday season, we also visited the Christmas markets. Food, drinks, history, beer, perfume, beauty from every angle. We wanted to buy cologne, but when we arrived, it was closed. That will make us want to visit this beautiful city again. Because we are Passengers in Transit.
