A Late-afternoon burst of trains at Botany Bay Level Crossing, Nottinghamshire

Date filmed: Wednesday the 31st of January 2024 Videos filmed between 16:08 and 16:48 Route: East Coast Main Line Retford is the closest station Crossing type: Manually Controlled Barrier crossing with CCTV (MCB-CCTV) Location: Sutton Lane, Botany Bay A finale (chronologically) to this busy trip up north, here's about forty minutes' worth of railway action at this level crossing on a road bend just to the north of Retford, Nottinghamshire, a level crossing controlled and monitored from nearby Ranskill. Due to earlier delays, quite a chunk of trains came within the time that I was here, and at one point there was a run of six consecutive southbound trains all within fifteen minutes! The consecutive run can be seen from the second train in the third lowering to the one that passed in the seventh. Various 100mph+ workings mixed in with a few Retford stoppers feature throughout the video, and another unexpected last-minute-schedule working in the form of a light locomotive heading southbound from York can be seen too.
