Sam is probably the most meticulous builder that has ever come to the salt flats. If you look at his motorcycle, its impeccable. Rick Vesco Sam Wheeler had one desire growing up in southern California to go really fast. He built his first streamliner in 1961 at the age of 18 with 20 bicycle wheels and 1/2 electrical tubing from Sears and went 93 mph at El Mirage. After that Sams need for speed would have to wait. He was drafted and sent to Viet Nam. I found myself thinking, if I ever get out of here alive, Im going to build another streamliner. He did and the rest is history.
