400 km : on voulait se tester… tout a mal tourné

Long-distance cycling: we wanted to test 400 km in 40 hours to prepare for the Spider 400… everything went wrong. 180 km out of 400. We had set ourselves an ambitious goal: to complete 400 km around Poitiers as a couple, to test ourselves before the Spider 400. The result: delayed start, overloaded pack, broken AXS shifter, rain, hail, headwind, lack of supplies, a sore knee, and no open campsites. At 9 pm, we decided to head home to sleep. An honest assessment of a ride that brought us back down to earth: we were carrying too much weight, too confident, and not prepared enough. That's how you learn. 📍 Route: around Poitiers – Vienne (86) 🚵 Loaded bikes | Gravel | Bikepacking 🔗 Complete Spider 400 Prep Playlist:    • Objectif 400 km à vélo - préparation et défi   00:00 - The goal: 400 km in 40 hours 00:51 - AXS breakdown: 2 hours on a single speed 01:10 - Rain already 02:16 - First trails and first struggles 05:38 - First break and first doubts 08:10 - The providential lunch restaurant 08:43 - Kilometer 100 11:02 - Hail, headwind, and fatigue 14:23 - The problems pile up 15:22 - We finally find something to eat 16:02 - The decision to stop 17:16 - Meeting Bambi's mom 17:58 - Corinne's knees are shot. 7:16 PM - Recap: Why we failed #gravel #bikepacking #spider400 YouTube channel Les Gravelidés - gravel and bikepacking without the pressure from Poitiers.
