Russia and Ukraine traded sharp accusations during a United Nations Security Council meeting, with Moscow rejecting Western claims that it is simultaneously losing the war in Ukraine while posing a growing military threat to NATO. Russia's Deputy Permanent Representative Anna Evstigneeva described the narrative as "contradictory" and "a mockery of intellectual abilities," arguing that Western governments are using it to justify increased military spending and support for Ukraine.
