Last time, we introduced a huge Muscat grape bunch that was larger than a hand. We tried to see what would happen if we let it grow as is, but it turned out that it was quite difficult for a young potted tree to support such a huge bunch. A small tree, about two years old, doesn't have enough strength to support such large flowers, resulting in sparse fruit or a damaged bunch. When there are many flowers, you're tempted to leave them because you think it's a waste, but with large-grained grapes, if you don't thin the flowers and fruit, it's difficult to get a beautiful bunch in the end. On the other hand, a tree that has grown large like the parent tree can more easily hold fruit firmly even with a similarly large bunch. The amount of bunches that a young tree and a mature tree can support is completely different because of the difference in the tree's age, root strength, leaf volume, and overall strength. The video also shows large bunches of Muscat and Shine Muscat grapes from the parent tree. As expected, with larger trees, even clusters larger than your hand remain, creating an impressive sight. However, growing giant clusters in pots is quite difficult. If there are too many grapes, they will bump into each other when placed in the vine, crushing each other as the clusters grow larger. Furthermore, the branches and cluster stems become very brittle. In fact, in the video, there are moments where branches break while being wrapped. I lacked the concentration to wrap while talking. I still have a lot to learn. The important lesson learned this time is not to be too greedy with flowers when growing large-grained grapes on young trees or in pots. While it's tempting to dream of large clusters, thinning the flowers and adjusting the amount to what the tree can handle will ultimately result in more beautiful grapes. In the latter half, I'm also working on another giant Muscat grape cluster. This cluster is in slightly better condition and seems like it might take shape. However, there's no guarantee that the fruit will stop growing from here, so I'll continue to monitor its progress. These unique potted grape varieties have the potential to reach markets in regions like Kanto and Kansai, which are looking for interesting and high-quality products. The emphasis on price versus quality and uniqueness varies by region, making the behind-the-scenes aspects of distribution quite fascinating. This is a sequel to our story about the "ghost muscat" grapes, showcasing both successes and failures. If you're growing muscat grapes in pots, struggling with pruning large-grained grape blossoms, or debating whether to leave giant bunches, please use this as a reference. In this video, I show the follow-up of the monster Muscat grape cluster I introduced before. The cluster was larger than my hand, and I wanted to see what would happen if I tried to keep it. However, the result shows that it is very difficult for a young potted Muscat plant to support such a huge cluster. On a two-year-old plant, the tree does not have enough strength to hold that many flowers and berries. The cluster became sparse and uneven, which shows why flower thinning is so important for large grape varieties. It may feel wasteful to remove flowers, but if too many are left on a young plant, the final cluster may not become beautiful. On the other hand, larger parent vines can hold much bigger clusters. The root strength, leaf area, and overall tree vigor are very different, so mature plants can support larger fruit loads than young potted plants. I also show large clusters on parent Muscat vines and Shine Muscat vines. These larger plants can support impressive clusters much better. However, training huge clusters into a small circular support frame is extremely difficult. If too many berries remain inside the frame, they will press against each other as they grow. The shoots and fruit stems are also very easy to break. In the video...
