CPSC PSA | One portable generator produces the same amount of Carbon Monoxide as hundreds of cars
Many Americans own portable generators to keep the power on after a storm. However, many people don't realize that one portable generator can produce the same amount of carbon monoxide as hundreds of cars. Carbon monoxide can't be seen, can't be smelled, and can kill an entire family in minutes. Never run your portable generator indoors. Always place your portable generator outside, at least 20 feet away from your home. Make sure you have working carbon monoxide alarms on every floor of your home and outside sleeping areas.
