Flourishes & Embellishments to Enrich the Spring Garden
In this video filmed in early April Bunny shows us great plants in her courtyard such as Erodium pelargoniflorum, Erysimum ‘Red Jep’ as well as the progress of her new box hedge, Buxus ‘Heritage’ which is a blight resistant variety from BetterBuxus. She explains how to get milder but tasty lovage by blanching it. The Rose Meadow and Serpentine borders are establishing well and we have a quick look at her small Walled Garden. The construction of her new veg cage is finished made from reclaimed metal poles and Bunny discusses why she has chosen the 7mmx7mm black plastic butterfly netting for it. The new polytunnel is up and partially occupied, and in order to make it less visible Bunny reduced the height by cutting the legs down before assembling so that is more easily concealed but still functions really well. Bunny plants some Agretti, (Salsola soda) a delicious spring time Mediterranean succulent in the tunnel. This has a feathery texture and is tasty with an unusual rather mineral like flavour. Research has shown that the flavonoids produced by the plant suggest it could be of use in cancer therapy inflammatory problems and diabetic complications. #garden #backyard
