Wie man ein Cajon baut | SWR Handwerkskunst
At first glance, his cajons resemble a simple wooden box, but they are sophisticated percussion instruments and capable of replacing a complete drum set. In Halsenbach in the Rhine-Hunsrück district, Christoph Franzen constructs the sophisticated box drum with a wooden playing surface. Typical sounds of a Cajon are a warm bass tone, clacking accents of the so-called "clap-corners" and a buzzing snare sound. For more than 15 years, Christoph Franzen has been experimenting with the sound and shapes of wood, creating a variety of new wooden drums. His art turns a simple wooden box into a musical instrument.
