How important is it to safeguard biodiversity? We should preserve something that reminds us of the biology and evolutionary history of many species that could disappear in the coming years. Today, we have mobile technology that allows us to connect with the world and bring samples from abroad into sequencing laboratories. A full professor of Genetics at the University of Verona, Massimo Delledonne has conducted research abroad on molecular genetics. He began studying the structure and function of genomes using DNA sequencing technologies in 2007. For several years, he has also been involved in scientific outreach and since 2017 has been part of Taxon Expedition, an organization that aims to educate about scientific discovery through expeditions to remote areas of the planet in search of new species.
