I take on the legendary Bathurst 12H iRacing Special Event at Mount Panorama with Team Adriatic iRacing Community (AIC), driving the BMW M4 GT3 EVO alongside Igor Radovanović (Iggy) and Miloš Tomić (EMKA). This Part 1 stream covers practice, qualifying, and the first 9 hours of racing. After weeks of planning, confusion around registration timing meant we entered the event at the very last minute before it closed. Since I was the only team member available at that moment with registration permissions, I unexpectedly had to register the team and handle qualifying — despite not being scheduled to do so. Completely unprepared for a night qualifying session, I managed a 2:05.0 lap, placing us P41 out of 49 teams. I also took the race start, but only three turns in, chaos struck: I braked in time for an incident ahead, yet was hit from behind and flipped, forcing early pit repairs. From that moment onward, it became a true endurance battle for me, Iggy, and EMKA. Across multiple stints we climbed as high as P15, dropped back into the 20s, fought through wheel disconnect issues, handled unplanned pit stops from contact damage, and survived heavy traffic around the mountain. By the end of the ninth hour, we were holding P18, still very much in the fight. Conclusion: This opening phase of the Bathurst 12H proved that endurance racing is about resilience as much as pace. From last-minute decisions and early race damage to technical setbacks and recovery drives, the team stayed focused and committed. With Igor, Miloš, and myself rotating stints and keeping the car alive, the goal remains simple — survive the mountain and fight until the checkered flag. The hardest part of the race is still ahead.
