The U.S. Central Command announced on the 11th local time that "units under the command have launched their third airstrike." Foreign media reported that explosions were heard on Qeshm Island in the Strait of Hormuz, as well as in southern Asaluyeh, home to Iran's largest oil refinery, and Bushehr, home to the country's only commercial nuclear power plant. It was also reported that multiple explosions occurred in the southern central port cities of Bandar Abbas and Sirik, and in the southeastern city of Chabahar. The U.S. military stated that the reason for resuming airstrikes was that "the Iranian Revolutionary Guard blatantly attacked a Cypriot-flagged container ship passing through Hormuz." They explained that civilian crew members are missing, the ship is on fire, and the engine room is severely damaged, rendering it unnavigable. Defense Minister Hegseth also shared the Central Command's announcement of the airstrike commencement, stating, "Iran made a terrible choice," and adding, "They will now pay the price."
