Full HD 60FPS: Central Railroad of New Jersey GP40PH-2 4109 on the New York & Long Branch Railroad

This video features arguably one of the most anticipated trains on the North Jersey Coast Line in recent history. During the Fourth of July holiday week, NJ Transit assigned their Central Railroad of New Jersey heritage unit, GP40PH-2 4109 (née CNJ GP40P 3677), to the Bay Head shuttle. The engine ran on home rails once again on one of the busiest travel weeks on the Jersey Shore. While most people probably weren’t aware that a different-looking engine was around, many railfans certainly took notice. For about seven days, I ran around like crazy, trying to document as many pictures and videos as I could, which led me to meet up with a whole host of railfans from across the state. Join me on this journey of a modern interpretation of the CNJ on the New York & Long Branch Railroad. I tried to make this more than just another railfan video: I wanted it to tell a story. We start by seeing the 4109 on the MM-08 equipment move as it heads to Bay Head. After that, the locomotive is seen at various locations on the North Jersey Coast Line, including scenic views and historic railroad infrastructure. Finally, the engine is seen returning to the MMC on MM-08 after experiencing a mechanical problem.
