Edwin Flourish Kollie grew up in Liberia with the ocean on his doorstep, and instead of taking it for granted, he fell in love with it. Drawn in by its colours, creatures, and mysteries, he started learning about pollution and climate change and made a decision: he wanted to spend his life helping the ocean recover. He delivers Plastic Clever Schools in Liberia, an award-winning programme that empowers schools to reduce single-use plastics and build a generation of young people who understand that what happens on land ends up in the ocean. He works on the frontlines of ocean health in West Africa, teaching communities how to protect marine life, keep water clean, and care for the ecosystems that coastal people depend on. Edwin is someone embedded in his community, doing practical, youth-focused work to protect the coastline he grew up on.
