Why Do People In Finland Do This?
Finland is constantly ranked the happiest country on Earth - and today, I wanted to find out why. In Helsinki, I visited Löyly Sauna, one of the city’s most iconic saunas, to experience a very Finnish tradition: going from intense heat straight into icy cold water. The air temperature was around -15°C, but with the wind chill the real feel was closer to -20°C… which you can definitely feel when you’re standing outside in a robe questioning your life choices. Along the way, I realised I might have said the word “sea” about 35 times - but can you blame me? I was literally walking on the frozen Baltic Sea, and I was far too excited to stay quiet about it. This video isn’t just about cold plunges and saunas. It’s about discomfort, presence, and why people here seem to willingly choose difficult things, and somehow come out happier on the other side. Thank YOU so much for watching 🫶🏼 📍 @travelcologist everywhere #Finland #Helsinki #LoylySauna #Travelcologist #SaunaCulture #ColdPlunge #FinnishCulture #IceSwimming #BalticSea #WinterInFinland #Travel #TravelVlog #NordicLife
