Estonia and Finland - Brothers in arms

Finnish and Estonian are both Ugro-Finnic languages but these two peoples are more closely related than their Finno-Ugric cousins. Though Estonia and Finland are separated by the Gulf of Finland and although Estonia was in the USSR but Finland was independent, much links the Finnish and Estonian nations. In this film we discuss the origins, the mythology of the Finns and the Estonians, cover their early history, focusing on the 20th century and the 21st century: World War I and World War II, and the Cold War era. Did Finland help Estonia gain independence? Did Estonians help Finland defend itself against Russia? After the fall of the Soviet Union, they could rekindle relations more freely, with the Helsinki-Tallinn ferry link serving as a bridge between the countries. In the wake of Russia's aggressive intervention in Ukraine, Finland was persuaded to follow Estonia's example and join NATO. Now the two countries are together in both the EU and NATO. Is their relationship one of an older and younger sibling?
