DSS Appeals Oriire Kidnap Verdict, Seeks Tougher Sentence

The Department of State Services, DSS, says it will appeal the life sentence handed to three suspects convicted over the Oriire school kidnap incident. The agency says the punishment does not reflect the seriousness of the offences and maintains that the case involved members of the Ansaru terrorist group. The DSS says two teachers were killed during the incident and argues that the crimes warrant the maximum penalty under Nigerian law.
