The Girl Who Traded Gold for Grace Saint Katharine Drexel

Saint Katharine Drexel (1858–1955) was an American heiress, philanthropist, and religious sister who became the second American-born person to be canonized as a saint. Born into immense wealth in Philadelphia, she chose to forfeit her multi-million dollar fortune to dedicate her life to the education and spiritual welfare of Native Americans and African Americans. She founded the Sisters of the Blessed Sacrament religious order and poured over $12 million of her inheritance into building missions and schools across the United States. Today, she is honored as the Catholic Church's patron saint of racial justice and philanthropists. #catholicsaints #saintkatharinedrexel #pilgrimsoffaith #journeywiththesaints #catholicstorybook
