I Ran 3 Different Batteries Together… Here’s What Happened - Humsienk 48V 314AH
Save 7% with this link: https://www.humsienk.com/?ref=SCOTTLI... Can you run different battery brands and different battery capacities in the same off-grid system? In this video, I test three different 48V batteries—a 314Ah Humsienk, a 100Ah Watt Cycle, and a 100Ah Vatrer—connected to a single inverter. Vatrer Install Video: • I Added a 48V Battery to my System… Here’s... Humsienk By Itself Video: • No Solar. No Backup. Just ONE Battery - Hu... I explain how a communication works, why battery communication matters, how voltage balancing allows different capacities to work together, and the real-world drift I observed over several days. Maybe you've found a deal on a battery that doesn't match the rest of your system, or you're wondering whether you can expand your battery bank with a larger battery, this video is for you. Note: A couple of comments have got me to thinking... I posted a comment, but the voltages are all staying close, even if the SOC readings are drifting. Voltage doing what voltage does. That means the BMS of each battery is getting off, or reporting a different SOC. Since the Inverter is reading the Primary BMS, this could become an issue in one of two ways: First, if the primary battery SOC is reading low, if I discharge the system enough, it could trigger low power alarms or even shutdown of the inverter even though there may be charge in the battery. Second, a secondary battery BMS (more likely) could think it is out of power and shutdown prematurely. This would shift the load to the other batteries, but is also why I have the larger, more capable battery as primary. With the loads I am drawing, it can handle things on its own, if required. A good solid recharge to 100% seems to recalibrate the system. ✅ Mixed battery brands ✅ Different battery capacities ✅ Open-loop vs closed-loop systems ✅ Battery drift and balancing ✅ Real-world testing Let me know in the comments: Have you successfully run different batteries together in the same system? 00:00 Intro and Overview 01:47 Different Brands 03:50 Different Capacities 05:33 My Results 06:58 Conclusions #solarpower #OffGrid #BatteryStorage #DIYsolar #HomeBackupPower #SolarBattery
