¡Recordar es volver a vivir!: ¿Cómo era la famosa Feria del Hogar?

“The llama is calling you” was one of the most anticipated phrases of the mid-year season, and since 1959 it had been the slogan of the International Pacific Fair, a tradition that accompanied Peruvians for more than three decades. Known to all as the Home Fair, it was an unmissable event that marked an entire era in our country. Located on La Marina Avenue in the San Miguel district, it was the place where residents of Lima and Callao could find everything in one place, what we would now call modern shopping malls. THE HOME FAIR: EVERYTHING IN ONE PLACE Finding all the trendy stores, attractions, amusement rides, circuses, cinemas, live music, and more in the 60s, 70s, and 80s was unthinkable, but at the Home Fair, it was possible. Visitors to the fair found immense pavilions, divided into sections such as Artefacta (Artifacts), Decora-ilumina (Decor and Illuminate), Recrea-didacta (Recreate and Educate), Artesanía (Crafts), Moda-belleza (Fashion and Beauty), Bienes intermedias (Intermediate Goods), Degustación (Tasting), Seguridad (Security), Servicios (Services), and Telemática (Telematics). These sections offered cutting-edge home products, while others sold specific items like clothing, toys, and all the latest trends. In other words, at the Feria del Hogar (Home Fair), you could find something for everyone, including popular national and international singers and musical groups. In this unmissable chronicle from Al Sexto Día (On the Sixth Day), we relive all the nostalgia and euphoria of the unforgettable Feria del Hogar.
