En honor a Lucha Fuentes
Lucha Fuentes was born on August 24, 1954, in Ica, Peru. At the age of 14, she was discovered by Akira Kato and in less than a year was already playing for Colegio Divino Maestro in Lima. She was a multiple-time South American champion and Pan American runner-up in volleyball during the 1960s and 70s. She participated in the 1968 Mexico City Olympics and the first World Cup in 1973, where Peru finished fourth. The imposing athlete, "the golden cannonball," had an intimate conversation with Día D. She also reconnected with the ball and the net.
