Hermle Chime Clock Repair - Worn out 340-020
Here is a demo of a post-op test-run of a Hermle 340-020 mantel clock mechanism. The clock has been serviced routinely, however, the chime train third and fourth wheels had worn to the point of binding. our best guess as to why only the chime train had worn on two selective bearings was, perhaps the trio were overlooked during service, and had worn prematurely because of that. Once the pivots were polished, three bearings were installed, the chime wheels were correctly realigned. This repair should get another 10 years or so out of the mechanism, and last ditch effort to get all the remaining life out of this durable little motor.
