Linleys Garden Railway – Why not DCC for my Garden Railway? I will explain! Sunday 26 April 2020 This episode provides some background about how I came to develop my own bespoke railway control system. It is hardly unique but, for a home garden railway, I think it is unusual. The story starts back in 1981 and evolves through exploring the use of direct control using a variable voltage supply, through to using early Digital Systems including Zero One and ZTC. However, the variety of influences described in this episode takes the viewer through some of the reasons why I have been developing a bespoke system using basic electronics and block sections rather than commercial model railway control products. The story is a long way from being complete! In later episodes I will try and explain how I have developed the electronic systems, the installation methods, control panels and other practical aspects. It is all an evolving project.
